Got 'Grass? Click the logo above, to hear your favorite bluegrass stars tell their stories. It's more than just "picks and strings".

These musicians have their ups and downs, just like the rest of us, and are open and eloquent in discussing their lives, their music, and their hopes and dreams.

I hope you enjoy these conversations.

Brenna MacMillan

Brenna Macmillan is a young singer, songwriter, banjo player, studio musician and band leader living in Nashville. From Kentucky, her story is fascinating and unusual. Home schooled with 11 siblings, nine of whom were Liberian war orphans adopted by her parents, she and her brother performed as the duo Theo and Brenna for many years, even as she worked full time, went to college, and became a chemist.

Her first album, "Dear Life", was released to great acclaim last October. She is now devoting her life to performing and song writing , and plans to tour with her band. Brenna is generous, talented, and determined, while at the same time she's a free spirit, who goes where her dreams and instincts take her. I hope they bring her to CT!

Shelby Means

Shelby made her name with the band Della Mae, and now sings and plays bass with Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway. A Grammy winner, her debut, self-titled album comes out May 30, 2025.

She talks about her bluegrass upbringing, her bass heroes, emerging as a band leader, singer and songwriter, her ideal singing partner Billie Holiday, her friends and fellow musicians, and a lot more. We wish her lots of luck as she embarks on a new phase in her stellar career. (She's still with Molly too!)
