Enjoy my newest conversation with mandolinist and tenor singer
Jimmy Gaudreau
Wonderful stories about Charle Waller, John Duffey, David Grisman, Keith Whitley, and especially Tony & Wyatt Rice, with whom he played for ten years.
Lots about his mandolin playing technique, harmony singing, nicknames and lots of fun.
A great interview with Jimmy G.
The bluegrass classes at Neighborhood Music School in New Haven are open for fall enrollment. They start on September 9.
Three are ensembles, practicing towards bluegrass performances during the year. The fourth is an introduction to bluegrass jamming.
Classes are limited to six people. The only prerequisite is basic facility on a stringed insument like guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, dobro or bass.
For information and sign-up forms, you can visit the NMS website HERE.

Bluegrass Jams
For those unfamiliar with bluegrass, the jam is a group of people getting together informally to play and sing bluegrass music.
Anyone with basic facility on a stringed acoustic instrument like guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, dobro or bass is welcome to play along.
We sit in a circle, and take turns leading and soloing on classic bluegrass (and sometimes country) songs. If you choose, you can just strum along quietly in the back.
Feel free to come listen, and if you enjoy it you can always throw money in the tip jar, which all goes to Best Video!
